Nothing But By Prayer

Writing down one’s prayers is a foreign practice to many Christians, especially Evangelicals. Part of the reason is due to placing emphasis on spontaneous and extemporaneous praying, which is often viewed as a sign of spiritual maturity. There is, nevertheless, a wellspring of spiritual maturity imbued in the art of composing prayers. Inspired by figures such as John Wesley and Martin Luther, in Nothing But By Prayer, T. Michael W. Halcomb invites readers into his prayer journal. In so doing, he hopes readers will not only join him in prayer, recycle his prayers, and be inspired to write their own prayers, but to also will be encouraged to make a contribution, however small it may be, to God’s people via this great spiritual discipline.
